Silver award at WorldSkills

Two talented teams from Middlesex University were awarded silver medals in the WorldSkills UK National Competition Finals, the UK’s largest technical skills and careers event, in Birmingham on 19 November.

Middlesex students Andrej Lieskovsky and Piotr Nowicki secured silver in the mechatronics (higher) category while Eva Blessing Onyeulo and Rahul Vekaria claimed silver in the robotics category.

“It’s a great experience to be able to compete with the UK's top mechatronics teams in a national competition and I hope that potential future employers will look at it the same way” - Andrej Lieskovsky, BEng Mechatronics.

Mathematics Workshops

Our range of workshops for sixth form students are designed to expand mathematics horizons whilst relating to your syllabus. There are six different workshops available including ‘Towers of Hanoi’, exploring recurrence, invariance and problem formulation, and ‘The Chaos Laboratory’, for a hands on introduction to chaos, the mathematics of the real world, and how small changes can have massive consequences.

All workshops are offered free of charge, and can be delivered by our academic team either in your school or college, or as part of a visit to our campus. Please contact Dr. Nick Sharples for a full list of available workshops and to book.

Young careers official partner

Middlesex has been selected as an official partner of Young Careers – a new government backed pilot designed to shape the future of careers advice in England.

The initiative is being run locally by public services provider Reed in Partnership and focusses on strengthening links between business and education to improve careers guidance given in schools.

The aim is to leave young people inspired and informed around their career opportunities. We will be working closely with local schools to deliver in-depth and impartial advice around careers, including attendance at an on campus STEM Festival and access to a careers assessment tool.
