Vault Festival: Urban Gothic

Former Senior Lecturer in Theatre Arts at Middlesex, Desmond Truscott, and recent graduate James Cross have collaborated to create a piece of imaginative theatre, which will be performed at VAULT festival. Based on the experience of moving to London ' Scenes from an Urban Gothic is about a young man who sets off on a journey to right a past wrong and encounters a number of difficulties on the way.

The performance at VAULT festival follows a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of the University's Theatre Arts Exchange in August.

Middlesex Musicians launch Vegas show

Visiting students from local schools were treated to an exclusive performance by third year BA Theatre Arts students as part of Middlesex University's theatre arts discovery days series. The visitors watched an adaptation of Svetlana Alexievichs ‘Chernobyl Prayer’, entitled, ‘The Black Story’.

The challenging piece provoked a range of thoughtful questions from the visitors, who were able to explore the piece and theatre arts in a Q&A session with both academics and students.

“We had a great time on Wednesday – the students came away talking a lot about the performance and studying at Middlesex which was great. We really appreciate being invited” - Melissa, Teacher at Highlands School.

Young Careers official partner

Middlesex has been selected as an official partner of Young Careers – a new government backed pilot designed to shape the future of careers advice in England.

The initiative is being run locally by public services provider Reed in Partnership and focusses on strengthening links between business and education to improve careers guidance given in schools.

The aim is to leave young people inspired and informed around their career opportunities. We will be working closely with local schools to deliver in-depth and impartial advice around careers, including attendance at an on campus STEM Festival and access to a careers assessment tool.
